OUR FAVORITE NEW MATERIALS FROM IIDEX 2011

Favorite materials from IIDEX 2011If you are anything like us you are excited about new materials on the market. This year at IIDEX the THINK:MATERIAL exhibit showcased a hand chosen selection of fresh, new, innovative materials, many of them sustainable. We’d like to share some of our faves.

Newsworthy designed by Weitzner as seen at IIDEX 2011“Newsworthy” designed by Weitzner – wallcovering made from 70% recycled newspaper and 30% nylon thread. We like this Cradle to Cradle approach of upcycling to create post consumer recycled material!

Graphic Concrete as seen at IIDEX 2011Graphic Concrete – creates patterns and images on a concrete surface. Raw concrete is a popular, contemporary finish in today’s interiors. The possibilities are endless with Graphic Concrete’s patterned concrete, and completely customizable to create your own concrete masterpiece! Graphic Concrete will provide pre-fabricated panels with patterns selected from their standard line or patterns designed by you.

Engineered Timber Resources as seen at IIDEX 2011Engineered Timber Resources – wood or bamboo strand composite board. It’s another upcycler, wood or bamboo; including byproducts from wood manufacturing processes; is embedded in a resin in various “recipes” to create a variety of unique wood looks. It looks like they are providing this for solid and engineered wood flooring, as well as panels.
